Competent / Basic
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): At least 6 for each of the 4 components
Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT): At least 12 for listening, 13 for reading, 21 for writing and 18 for speaking
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): At least 50 for each of the 4 components
Occupational English Test (OET): At least B for each of the 4 components
Cambridge C1 Advanced test: At least 169 in each of the 4 components

Intermediate / Proficient:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): At least 7 for each of the 4 test components
Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT): At least 24 for listening, 24 for reading, 27 for writing and 23 for speaking
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): At least 65 for each of the 4 test components
Occupational English Test (OET): At least B for each of the 4 test components
Cambridge C1 Advanced tes: tAt least 185 in each of the 4 test components

Advanced / Superior:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): At least 8 for each of the 4 test components
Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT): At least 28 for listening, 29 for reading, 30 for writing and 26 for speaking
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): At least 79 for each of the 4 test components
Occupational English Test (OET): At least A for each of the 4 test components
Cambridge C1 Advanced test: At least 200 in each of the 4 test components

Professional Year, more aptly called the Job Preparedness program is a structured career development designed to enhance a student's ability to obtain employment in their chosen discipline by applying technical skills and knowledge in the Australian workplace and culture.

You would need to have completed either a:

• Masters degree by research (as opposed to a Masters by coursework); or
• Doctoral degree (PhD).

The qualification must have included study of at least 2 academic years in Australia and be awarded by an Australian educational institution.

The qualification must be in a field specified by the Department of Immigration. This currently covers “STEM” specialisations (ie Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

To meet the Australian study requirement you must have completed either:

• a single eligible qualification that requires at least 2 academic years study, or
• more than 1 qualification that results in a total of at least 2 academic years study resulting in an eligible qualification.

You must have been physically in Australia during your study, in a total of no less than 16 calendar months, while you held a visa authorising you to study.

Your course, or courses, resulting in the award of an eligible degree, diploma or trade qualification, must be registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) and instruction must be completed in English.
