Below are the details of the Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408) for COVID-19. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the Australian Government has released a new visa option for temporary activity (408). This visa allows foreign citizens to remain in Australia legally, to help the most critical sectors to face this pandemic.

This visa is available to provide solutions to people during the times of the coronavirus. It’s free and will only be available to temporary work visa holders who work in critical sectors. The main objective of the Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408) is to become the response to the labour shortage. Therefore, it applies to health care, disability and elderly care, child care and agriculture.

Requirements for the application:

To apply for the Subclass 408 Temporary Activity Visa, it is important that you meet each of the eligibility criteria:

  • You must already have a temporary visa.
  • Have a visa that is 28 days or less after it ceased to be valid.
  • You cannot return to your country of origin.
  • You must supply the need to work in critical sectors, otherwise, you will not be eligible for this visa.

Keep in mind to have the following documentation:

  • Passport and other ID documents.
  • Evidence of current activities: For instance, if you have a student visa and it’s about to expire, you must show evidence of your studies.
  • Evidence that you have an occupation that falls under critical services: You must demonstrate that you are working for a critical sector and that you have been supported for this application.
