The Australian Government has confirmed that changes will be made to the Australian Citizenship Exam by including a section on National Values.
Minister of Immigration, Citizenship, Migration Services and Multicultural Affairs Alan Tudge said the new questions will be included in the exams starting November 15, so he hopes that applicants will understand and commit to Australian values, such as freedom of expression, mutual respect, equality, democracy and state law.
What kind of questions will be found in the new exam?
This updated exam will feature 20 multiple-choice questions, including five new questions about national values.
The applicant must correctly answer all five questions about national values and obtain a score of at least 75% to pass the exam.

What is the difference between permanent residence and citizenship?
If you are a permanent resident, you will be able to live, study and work permanently in Australia, but you will not be entitled to an Australian passport.
Permanent residents must have a valid permanent visa to return to Australia as permanent residents. Instead, citizens can leave and return to Australia as many times as they like.
Also, citizens can vote in federal, state or territorial elections, they can vote in a referendum or constitutional plebiscite, they can apply for election to Parliament.
